Barefoot Camp 2025 Parent Information

Hello Barefoot Camp Families!

We’re so excited to welcome your camper to Barefoot Camp next week! Below is everything you need to know for a smooth and fun week. Please bookmark this message as it contains important daily info, field trip details, and what to bring.


📍 Camp Location

Hazel Outdoor Discovery Center
4025 Cooper Road, Eden, MD


Daily Schedule: July 14–18 (Monday–Friday)

  • Drop-Off: 8:45 AM
    Please arrive no later than 9:15 AM so we can begin our group activities on time. We’ve packed the week with awesome outdoor fun and hands-on STEM experiences!
  • Lunch: 12:00–1:00 PM
  • Camper Choice Time: 1:00–2:00 PM
  • Pick-Up: No later than 2:00 PM each day

🧳 What to Bring Each Day

  • Packed lunch and snack
  • Refillable water bottle (we’ll provide a special camp bottle on Day 1!)
  • Sunscreen (apply before drop-off; we’ll reapply as needed)
  • Bug spray
  • Change of clothes
  • Closed-toe shoes (that can get dirty)
  • Any medications (must include doctor’s written and signed instructions)

🩱 Thursday only: Swimsuit, towel, goggles, and ear plugs for kayaking fun!

🪲 Note: Please check your child for ticks daily. We’ll be spending lots of time in nature!


What NOT to Bring

To keep campers safe and focused, please do not send electronics (phones, tablets, etc.) or any valuable/personal items. We cannot be responsible for lost or damaged belongings.


🎉 Daily Themes & Activities

Monday – Nature Explorers Kickoff
Team building, scavenger hunts, and a habitat hike.

Tuesday – Trailblazer Tuesday (Biking + Navigation)
Bike trails, obstacle courses, and map/compass skills.

Wednesday – Wild Wanderers Wednesday (Fishing + Animal Science)
Fishing, wildlife discovery, and learning ecosystems.

Thursday – Water Wonders Thursday (Kayaking + Ecology)
Kayaking, pond exploration, and water science fun.

Friday – Saddle Up Science & Camp Celebration
Horseback riding, STEM challenges, games, and awards.


🚌 Field Trip Days – Thursday & Friday

📌 Thursday, July 17 – Pocomoke River Canoe Company
Campers will learn canoeing skills and water safety, then enjoy lunch on site. We’ll return to Hazel by 2:00 PM for pick-up.

📌 Friday, July 18 – Autumn Grove + Salisbury Zoo
Activities include:

  • Horse grooming, feeding, pony rides, and hayrides at Autumn Grove
  • Lunch at Ben’s Red Swings picnic area
  • Waffle truck demo with funnel fries for a sweet treat
  • Pick-up at Ben’s Red Swings at 2:00 PM

🎒 Permission slips will go home Wednesday for these trips.
