Exciting News: Salisbury’s Future Children’s Museum – Minds in Motion
At Minds in Motion, we are excited to share our ongoing efforts to open a Children’s Museum in Salisbury, Maryland. Children’s Museums worldwide have redefined the way children engage with learning, exploration, and creativity. These dynamic spaces foster interactive play, sparking curiosity and imagination in ways that traditional education often cannot. We envision a place where families can spend quality time together while encouraging children to explore, investigate, and create.
While we initially hoped to launch this exciting venture by 2019, the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic caused a necessary pause in our fundraising efforts. However, this disruption also gave us an opportunity to think outside the box and pivot towards innovative approaches. We’ve been able to adapt, plan, and continue working towards realizing the vision of Salisbury’s very own Children’s Museum.
Achievements So Far
We are proud to share the progress Minds in Motion has made:
- Award Recognition: We were honored to be awarded funding by The Perdue School of Business at Salisbury University for our participation in the Shore Hatchery competition. This support has been invaluable in helping us move forward with our vision.
- Facility Search: We’ve collaborated with area realtors and facility owners to identify potential spaces for the museum. Our ideal location will be between 8,000 and 10,000 square feet to house exhibits and interactive areas that can support educational programming for children of all ages.
- Expert Guidance: To prepare for a successful capital campaign, we’ve worked closely with Jessica DeVito and Megan Frenz from Nonprofit People for coaching and strategic advice. Their expertise has been instrumental as we gear up for the next stage of fundraising.
The Path Ahead: Raising One Million Dollars
Minds in Motion is focused on raising $1 million to support the build-out and opening of the museum. This is an exciting opportunity for local businesses and individuals to invest in the future of our community. Your tax-deductible contribution will play a key role in bringing this vision to life, creating a space where children can learn through discovery and exploration.
Join Us: Become a Founding Donor
We are reaching out to individuals and businesses to support us as part of our “Founding 50” initiative. These 50 donors will contribute $1,000 or more to help us meet our fundraising goal. We are thrilled to share that we currently have 28 members of the Founding 50, but we still have room for more! Founding donors will receive special recognition, including a distinctive plaque inside the museum, as well as acknowledgment on our website, social media platforms, and in press releases.
